Meet Ashley
1. Hey, Ashley can you introduce yourself?
I am a Pilates and movement educator, physiotherapy assistant, theatre manager as well as a student at Wilfrid Laurier University.
2. Can you take us through your journey to where you are now?
I started learning Pilates 20 years ago when I lived in Toronto. I began training to be a teacher and became qualified to teach in 2007. I then moved to Melbourne, Australia, where I lived and taught Pilates and movement until 2019. I moved back to Canada in 2019 and here I am in 2022!
3. What is a day in the life of you like?
I like my morning routine. Emails, breakfast and a green tea. Other than that, I like to make everyday a little different. I will study, do some movement and shoulder stands in my home studio and teach privates or group session at the studio or virtually.
4. Can you highlight your 3 favourite Pilates exercises?
I couldn’t narrow it down to just 3, I’m a rule breaker! Lol

5- Can you tell us what areas you have struggled in professionally?

6- What do you believe are the common misconceptions about Pilates?
That it is only for women and that is just about sculpting the glutes and abs.
7- What is the best piece of business advice you have received to date?
You are in the business of motivating people.
8- What is the number 1 critical lesson you have learned in your career so far?
Consistency is better than perfection.
9- How do you create an evenly balanced work and personal life?
I do not. Lol. I continue to struggle with this. I try to have fun when I can.
10- Which other leading entrepreneurs and pioneering game changers do you also admire and why?
Jocelyne- Continued passion and authenticity. Genuinely wanting to make a positive impact on the world. Working with Jocelyne has inspired me to really push myself and challenge myself to continually learn. I can say that while working with Jocelyne, I have grown as a teacher and as a person.
Margot McKinnon- Ability to communicate the benefits of Pilates to a large number of people as well the power to influence others.
11- How do you define success?
Knowing that you are making a positive difference.
12- What’s it like working at The Cornerstone Pilates?
I love being part of this team. I have never worked in such a positive, supportive, encouraging environment. I have genuine respect and appreciation for all the teachers at the Cornerstone. I love learning from them and sharing my knowledge and experience with them. I have worked and taught with many teachers around the world, and I can say that these women are all talented and skilled teachers who all offer something different and together offer a variety of perspectives at the highest levels of practice.
